Call for Submissions

I am interested in hearing your stories about scoliosis.

I am now collecting details from families about what they have experienced once Scoliosis has been diagnosed ...

Any and all Scoliosis stories are needed for this project;
the goal is to raise awareness and to provide support by sharing
the experiences and frustrations we have had with scoliosis and scoliosis treatment.

By contributing your story, you will be participating in a project that increases awareness, provides support, and gives newly diagnosed families information that otherwise isn't available--learning what others have been through helps all of us come to terms with this condition.

What do you wish you knew when you heard the diagnosis?

How valuable would it be for YOU to have a book about the experiences other people have had with Scoliosis?

You do not need to be a great writer, I'm interested in your experiences, not your writing skills!

If you would rather tell me your story directly, I am happy to schedule a time to call you, transcribe your story and then send you a copy for your approval before publication.

Please email me to request a phone interview

If you prefer to write your story yourself, here are some questions that might help you get started:

How does your child feel about their scoliosis?
Do they have pain? Embarrassment?
How do you, as a parent, cope with seeing your child with this condition?
How has your family been affected?
What have you experienced in seeking treatment?
What, if any, alternative treatment(s) have you tried?
Did you have success or a problem with alternative therapies?
Are you considering surgery, and if so, why?
Did you already opt for surgery, and if so, why?
Can you discuss the surgery from your child's perspective?
What has it been like for you, trying to figure out what to do?
What concern do you have for your child in the future?
What is the biggest frustration you face?
Have you had any Medical Insurance issues?

You simply just need to remember how you felt when you searched for information or support for yourself--and couldn't find it. What would you like to have known?

There are no limits to what you can talk about, these questions are merely a guide to get you started; feel free to include ANY DETAIL about your experiences you wish.
